There are many audio players for Linux, see http://linux-sound.org/ or http://linuxaudio.org/members
I won't try them all.
Installation
Should be easy to install, using Ubuntu installer or the terminal command sudo apt-get install xxx should install xxx for me.
Functionality
Must be able to browse my collection by composition (album).
Should support tags like composer, multiple performers, etc.
Browsing, searching, drag/drop, in place editing, playlist, etc
Playing
Should play my USB DAC using the system audio preferences, I’m not in need of editing all kind of config files.
Audio formats, will try MP3, FLAC, APE (+ CUE), WAV, WMA lossless.
Won't do extensive listening tests, I don't like listening to equipment.
I will judge them most of all on (inter)face value.
